Usage FAQs

How do I reduce noise?

The hood should fit tightly above the ear and across the jaw line to minimize airflow across the ear. See above video for more tips.

Why is the alarm sounding?

If your airflow is reduced due to a kinked hose, blocked airflow intake at the motor or  due to low battery, the alarm will sound. Exit the contaminated area, check the air inflow and hose for kinks or obstructions, and if the alarm continues replace the battery with a fully charged one. If the alarm continues to sound, it may be time for a filter change, which is typically required every 3-4 months.

How do I swap batteries while wearing the device?

Exit the contaminated area, remove the battery from the holster and unplug the power cord. Plug the power cord into the “out”  port of a charged battery and slip back into the holster. That’s it! Don’t forget to charge the depleted battery by attaching the charger plugged into an outlet into the “in” port of the battery when it is in the “on” position.

Why won’t my device turn on ?

If the battery is depleted or the filter is not firmly attached to the motor with the magnet side down, the device will not function.

Can the hood be reused?

It is always safest to use a fresh hood in a contaminated setting. However, these hoods were designed to be easily cleaned with hospital cleaning wipes and have been tested to withstand more than 20 cycles of cleaning without degradation in function. We suggest that each user have their own hood to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
