HUNTER-VHA ADAPT

The ADAPT is a Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR) specifically designed to protect healthcare workers from exposure to infection. The ADAPT is a NIOSH approved PAPR100-N representing the cutting-edge of personal protective equipment (PPE). The ADAPT features a filter efficiency rate of 99.97, a low-flow alarm, and a fog-free face shield.

Safe

ADAPT is a NIOSH certified PAPR N-100. The CDC rates it to be at least 2.5 times better at preventing exposure than a N-95. ADAPT filters 99.97% of aerosol particulates greater than 0.3 microns, and uses positive pressure to prevent any unfiltered air from reaching the wearer. The low flow alarm keeps the wearer informed and protected at all times.

Comfortable

The loose fitting hood is designed for all, without the need for fit testing. The hood rests off of the face, preventing irritation or discomfort. It is also cut to leave the wearer’s ears free for easier hearing and contamination-free stethoscope use. The clear face shield won’t fog and makes it easier to build a personal connection.

Reusable & Replaceable

The hood can be easily replaced between uses to prevent contamination. The battery is reusable and built to allow for easy switching when it’s time for a charge, minimizing downtime. The filter lasts at least 3 months and is externally mounted meaning that it can be switched on the fly, without any technical expertise.

FAQs

Is the ADAPT System compatible with any hood?

No. Only our hoods are compatible with the components of the ADAPT system and cannot safely be replaced by other hoods.

What happens when the battery is dead?

When the battery is low, an alarm will sound alerting you that it is time to switch. Our batteries are rechargeable in 4 hours, but you never need to miss a beat. Simply replace the battery in the PAPR with a charged one while you charge the old.

Can I use a stethoscope while wearing the PAPR?

Unlike many other PAPR devices, the ADAPT is designed to leave your ears free, which means you can use a stethoscope without reaching inside, and possibly contaminating, your hood.

How can I know that air is flowing properly?

The ADAPT comes complete with a low-flow alarm, per NIOSH regulations. It will alert you if airflow becomes insufficient to maintain the safety of the positive pressure system. If the alarm sounds you should leave the patient’s room immediately.
